Take these in order and confirm whether the cabinet recovers before moving on. If the freezer is cold but the fresh-food side stays warm, the cold simply is not reaching it — that points at the fan or air damper rather than the compressor.
Reading the SY EF and SH display alerts
Note any code first, because it narrows the diagnosis fast. SY EF (shown as 5Y EF on many displays, since the screen renders an S as a 5) is the System Evaporator Fault — an iced or failed evaporator fan. SH means the freezer thermistor has shorted, and OP means a sensor reads open. When it is the sealed system or a fan
If the coils are clean, the gasket is sound, and the controls are right but the cabinet still will not cool, the fault has moved to a part that needs testing — the evaporator or condenser fan motor, the defrost heater and thermostat, the start relay, or, less often, the sealed system itself.
