Frigidaire washer error codes group by the first digit after the E: E1x codes are about water coming in, E2x codes about draining, E3x about the water-level sensing, E4x about the door and the control board, E5x about the drive motor, and the letter codes EF1, EF2 and EB1 are separate prompts. The group tells you where to look, and for a few of them (E11, E21, EF1, EF2 and E41) the page on our site rates the repair as something an owner can try first.

E11, E13, E14Water in: slow fill, a leak, or a water-level sensing problem
E21, E23, E24Draining: too slow (E21), or a drain pump circuit failure (E23, E24)
E31, E35Pressure sensor: lost communication (E31) or overfill detected (E35)
E41, E42, E47, E48Door and door lock: door seen as open, lock will not release, lock circuit open or closed
E52, E55 to E59Drive motor: speed signal, overheating, excessive current, lost signal
EF1, EF2, EB1, E43, E67Filter prompt, too much suds, power frequency, main control board, supply voltage

What do Frigidaire washer error codes mean?

When the control finds a problem it stops the cycle and shows a code. Frigidaire washer error codes are not a single list to memorize; the pages on our site are written one code at a time, and most describe front-load washers. The family is the quick way in. If the washer fails during the fill, start with the E1x codes. If it stops after the wash with water still in the drum, think E2x. This glossary points you to the page for your exact code, and our guides on the E11 code, a washer that will not drain and a washer that is not spinning go deeper on the most common symptoms.

What do the E1x water-fill codes mean?

E11 means the water valve is filling too slowly. The page lists the water inlet valve, the inlet hoses and the inlet screens among the parts involved, and rates it as an owner-friendly repair, so check that both taps are fully open and the hoses are not kinked. E13 means a water leak in the tub area or an air leak in the pressure-sensing line, and the page rates it high severity, so treat any water on the floor seriously and book service if it recurs. E14 is a water-level sensing problem. If water is near the outlet or the cord, switch off the breaker at the panel while standing on a dry floor, and never pull a plug from a wet outlet.

What do the E2x drain codes mean?

E21 means the washer is draining too slowly, and a clogged drain pump filter is the usual cause. Our page rates it as owner-friendly, but where the drain pump filter sits and how to reach it differs by model, so follow your owner’s manual and do not remove panels the manual does not tell you to. If you do reach it, put a shallow pan and towels down first, because water will come out. Straighten the drain hose and make sure the standpipe is not blocked. E23 means the drain-pump relay on the main control board has failed, and E24 is a companion drain pump or relay circuit failure. Those two are not owner repairs. If E21 returns after the filter and hose are clear, the drain pump needs testing by a technician.

What do the E3x, E4x and E5x codes mean?

E31 means the control cannot communicate with the pressure sensor, and E35 means the sensor detected an overfill. Both need a technician for the sensor. If water keeps entering the washer, close the supply taps, and if it still fills with the washer off, leave the taps closed and book service.

E41 means the control sees the door switch as open. Close the door firmly, check that nothing is caught in it and run the cycle again; the page rates it as an owner-friendly code. E42 means the door-lock assembly will not release after the cycle. Do not force the door; the page says it requires a technician. E47 and E48 are the door-lock circuit reading open or closed unexpectedly, and E43 is a main control board failure, with E44, E45 and E46 in the same family.

The E5x codes concern the drive motor. E52 is a bad motor speed signal, E55 means the motor has overheated, E56 means it is drawing excessive current, E57 and E58 are over-current conditions, and E59 means the control lost the motor speed signal for about three seconds. These are not owner repairs, so book a visit if the code appears.

What do EF1, EF2, EB1 and E67 mean?

EF1 is an informational prompt to clean the drain pump filter, so it is a reminder rather than a failure. EF2 means the washer detected over-sudsing, which is too much detergent. Use less detergent on the next load. EB1 means the incoming power frequency is outside limits and points to the house supply or the control board. E67 means the microprocessor supply voltage is out of range. For EB1 and E67 a technician should look at the washer. Our Frigidaire washer maintenance guide explains how routine care prevents EF1 and EF2 from returning.

Which codes should you stop and call about?

Stop and call for any code that returns after you have tried the simple checks, for any water leak (E13), for door lock codes that leave the door stuck (E42, E47, E48), for motor codes (E52 to E59) and for control board codes (E43, E67, EB1). Do not open panels or the control housing; that is a technician’s job. On an older washer with a control board fault it is worth comparing against replacement, and our Frigidaire washer repair or replace guide helps. Frequently asked questions
What does E21 mean on a Frigidaire washer?
E21 means the washer is draining too slowly, and a clogged drain pump filter is the usual cause. Clean the filter, check the drain hose and try again. If E21 returns, the drain pump needs testing.
What does E23 mean on a Frigidaire front-load washer?
It means the drain-pump relay on the main control board has failed. This is not an owner repair; book a visit.
What does E11 mean on a Frigidaire washer?
The water valve is filling too slowly. Check that the taps are fully open and the hoses are not kinked. If it returns, the inlet valve or screens need a technician.
Can I reset a Frigidaire washer error code myself?
You can restart the cycle once after you fix the obvious cause, such as a clogged filter or a door that was not shut. If the same code comes back, do not keep resetting it.
What does EF2 mean?
The washer detected too many suds, which means too much detergent. Use less detergent on the next load.
