TL;DR: Frigidaire wall oven error codes fall into three families: F1x for the control and keypad, F3x for the temperature sensor and F9x for the door-lock motor. F10 is a safety alarm; the rest may clear after a five-minute breaker reset.

Frigidaire wall oven error codes that begin with F come in three families: F1x codes (F1, F10, F11, F13) point at the electronic oven control or its keypad, F3x codes (F30, F31) point at the oven temperature sensor, and F9x codes (F90, F91) point at the door-lock motor. Ranges use the same families, with F12, F40 and F92 added. Knowing the family tells you whether to try a quick power reset, whether to leave the oven off, or whether to book a technician.

F1 and F11Failed control or stuck or shorted keypad; the control reads a button as pressed
F10Temperature-runaway alarm; switch the oven off at the breaker and do not use it until repaired
F13 (range F12 too)Control memory or processor error inside the electronic oven control
F30 and F31Oven temperature sensor open (F30) or shorted (F31)
F90, F91 (range F92 too)Door-lock or door-latch motor did not unlock in time or ran out of attempts

What do Frigidaire wall oven error codes mean?

An F code is the oven control telling you that it found a fault and stopped the cooking program. Frigidaire wall oven error codes are not random numbers. The first digit after the F groups the problem, and the code pages on our site follow that grouping. Every wall oven code page explains the symptom, the likely causes, and the checks you can try before calling for service. The wall oven pages we have are F1, F10, F11, F13, F30, F31, F90 and F91.

The same letters appear on Frigidaire ranges, and the range pages describe the same families. This glossary covers both, so you can find your code whether the display is on a wall oven or on the oven of a range.

What does the F1x family mean?

F1x codes are control failures. F1 and F11 are about the keypad: the control senses a button held down, or a shorted keypad, when nobody is touching it. A worn keypad membrane or a ribbon connector problem is the usual cause, and it is a control-panel fault rather than a heating fault. F13 is a control-memory error; the electronic oven control read its stored calibration, the data failed an integrity check and the control stops instead of cooking on corrupted settings. On a range, F12 is a related processor problem handled the same way.

F10 is the one to treat differently. It is a temperature-runaway alarm: the cavity climbed past its safe limit and the control shut off the heat. Switch the oven off at the breaker, do not use it, and arrange service before it is used again. Do not keep resetting a runaway-heat problem. Our guide to the Frigidaire range F10 error explains what the technician checks, and our range keypad guide covers the keypad side of F1 and F11.

What does the F3x family mean?

F30 and F31 are about the oven temperature sensor, the probe that tells the control how hot the cavity is. F30 means the sensor circuit reads open, so the control cannot measure the temperature and stops the bake. F31 means the circuit reads shorted, which the control reads as an impossibly high temperature; it is the opposite failure and the oven again stops to stay safe. Both can come from a failed sensor or a connector or wire problem, and our pages rate them as medium severity. Our Frigidaire oven F30 code guide goes through the checks in order. If the oven also heats unevenly or not at all, read why a Frigidaire oven is not heating.

What does the F9x family mean?

F90 and F91 belong to the door-lock motor, the small mechanism that locks the door during a self-clean cycle. F90 means the motor did not reach the unlocked position in the allowed time. F91 means it kept trying and ran out of attempts, and the control now holds the door state. Range F92 is a door-latch position timeout in the same family. These codes do not say the oven cannot bake; they say the door lock is not reporting correctly. Do not pry the door and do not force it open while the oven is hot. Our guide to the Frigidaire oven F90 and F91 door lock explains the safe sequence.

Which of these codes go away after a reset?

Several of the code pages suggest the same first step: turn the oven off at the breaker for five minutes, then restore power. That can clear a one-off glitch on the F1, F11, F13, F30, F31 and F90 pages, and the pages say that if the code returns, it is a real fault. Range F40 is different. It means the cooktop or control lock-out is engaged, F41 belongs to the same family, and it usually clears once the lock is released from the control panel; the exact way to release it differs by model, so check your owner’s manual. If F40 keeps coming back on its own, the lock pad or keypad should be checked.

Two rules apply to every code. First, try the reset once or twice and no more; repeated resets do not fix a failed part. Second, do not open panels or work on the oven’s wiring or door lock yourself. That is a technician’s job.

When should you call a technician?

Call as soon as F10 appears, because that code is a safety alarm. Call for F13 or range F12 that returns after a reset, since the control itself is involved. Call for F30 or F31 that survives a reset, for F90, F91 or F92 when the door will not unlock after the oven has cooled, and for F1 or F11 when the keypad keeps reading a stuck button. An older oven with a failed control is worth comparing against replacement, and our Frigidaire range repair or replace guide helps you decide. Frequently asked questions
What does F10 mean on a Frigidaire oven?
F10 is a temperature-runaway alarm: the cavity climbed past its safe limit and the control shut the heat off. Switch the oven off at the breaker, do not use it and arrange service.
How do I get Frigidaire oven fault codes to clear?
Turn the oven off at the breaker for five minutes, then restore power. If the code returns, the fault is real and needs a technician. Do not repeat the reset many times.
Are Frigidaire wall oven and range codes the same?
The F1x, F3x and F9x families are the same on both, and the range pages add F12, F40 and F92. Always read the page for your own appliance, because the cooking surface of a range has its own lock-out code.
Can I keep using the oven with an F30 or F31 code?
No. The control stops the bake because it cannot read the oven temperature safely, so the oven will not cook until the sensor problem is fixed.
Is a Frigidaire oven error code covered by your repair service?
Yes. We repair Frigidaire wall ovens and ranges as an independent service, and you can book a visit from the schedule page.
